On Tuesday, May 27, the Pampa ISD Board of Trustees held their monthly meeting, swearing in current, re-elected members Misty LeBlanc and David Godino, and swearing in the newly elected member, Kaleb Snelgrooes.

Once all members had taken their respective seats, the board discussed any interest in reorganization of the members, but all were satisified with their current placements and moved forward to the next item on the agenda; the Spotlight on Excellence.

The board first recognized Kaleb’s predecessor, Luis Nava, and thanked him for his ten years of service and all of the accomplishments and milestones reached during his tenure.

“It’s been a privilege to serve,” Mr. Nava said. “To have this opportunity has made me a better person. I’ve always said, ‘don’t make yourself the why.’ We serve on this board because of the students, because of the staff, and because of the community. They’re the why. To serve with these people, and the past board members-I give a lot of credit to Lee Porter, Dr. Johnson, Lance DeFever and many others-they poured a lot into me. I was able to do this because people believed in me, just like I believe in our students and our staff. They can do anything that they set their mind to. I have a wife that believes in me and I have daughters that believe in me, sometimes more than I believe in myself. I was privileged to have an administration that also believed in me. And for that, I thank you.”

The two students also recognized were PHS track athletes Avery Ferguson and Jerimiah Davis for their phenomenal performances at the state and regional track meets, with Avery breaking a school record in the 400 category.

Next items on the agenda included the action to approve the board minutes of the April 28 meeting, to approve the monthly financial reports, to consider submitting low attendance waiver requests to TEA, and to consider approving the engagement agreement with Brown & Graham Company for their audit services for the 2025-2026 school year; all were approved.

The board then went over the budget workshop, the Student Health Advisory Council End of Year report, Enrollment report, the Facilities update, and Accountability report.

The last item was to approve the employment of professional individuals, after which the meeting was adjourned.
