National Home Care & Hospice Month Proclamation

On Wednesday, November 6, Interim Home Care and Hospice of Pampa gathered at City Hall to officially designate November as National Home Care & Hospice Month. City Commissioner Jimmy Keough, standing in for Mayor Lance DeFever, signed the proclamation and spoke with Interim’s Community Liaison, Jamilou Williams and the many hospice and home care nurses that came to be a part of the celebration.

The proclamation reads as follows:

WHEREAS, home care services provide high quality and compassionate health care services to more than 5 million Americans annually, especially in times of of community or personal health care crisis; and

WHEREAS, home care is the preferred method of health care delivery among the disabled, elderly, and chronically ill individuals eager to live independently in their own homes as long as they possible can; and

WHEREAS, home care services allow families to stay together and provide for greater health, dignity and comfort in our communities; and

WHEREAS, home care in the U.S. is a growing alternative to hospitalization or other institute-based forms of health care for acute and chronic illnesses, providing care to millions; and

WHEREAS, two million everyday heroes-including home care and hospice nurses, therapists, and aides-will travel almost billions of miles in 2024 to deliver care and work tirelessly to provide professional support to millions of Americans in need of quality health care; and

WHEREAS, these dedicated home care professionals and volunteers form a support network that continues to play a vital role in health care delivery for our nation’s disabled, infirm, and aging population;

NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that I, Jimmy Keough, Mayor Pro Tem by virtue authority vested in me by the City of Pampa, Texas, do hereby proclaim November 2024 as “National Home Care & Hospice Month” and encourage the support and participation of all citizens in learning more about the home care and hospice concepts of care for elderly, disabled and infirm.

IN WITNESS HEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Pampa affixed this 6th day of November 2024.

“We want to recognize all of our employees for what they do and how hard they work,” Jamilou said.

While all the employees and nurses are always busy in the delicate and crucial work they do, they are always involved in the community and can be seen all around Pampa spreading love and joy throughout the year.
