Pampa Bombers win Mansfield Tourney

The Pampa Bombers, a group of 12 and under young men from Pampa recently competed and won a baseball tournament held at the Big-League Dreams ballpark in Mansfield, Texas. The Bombers ended the tourney with a 4-0-1 record.

In pool play the Bombers tied Pitchman by a score of 5-5. Kutter Snelgrooes, Cruise Godino, Austin Hunt, Aaron Martinez, and David Buendia all managed one hit for the Bombers. Phoenix Lopez started on the mound for the Bombers, going three innings, giving up four runs on one hit, walking four and striking out six. Cruise Godino pitched one inning, giving up one run on no hits, striking out one and walking two. Pampa scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game.

In pool play game 2, the Bombers whipped the Copperheads by a score of 18-0. Snelgrooes, Godino, Lopez all had three hits each and Lopez had a whopping nine RBI’s in the game. Landry Crawford added two hits, Martinez, Buendia and Paxton Daniels all added one hit each. Jaston Cambern scored a run for the Bombers also.

Austin Hunt was the winning pitcher as he pitched two innings, giving up no runs, no hits, striking out one and walking one. Aaron Martinez pitched the final two innings, giving up no runs on one hit, striking out four and walking none.

In the first bracket game Pampa would take the win with a 7-2 victory over the DFW Bandits. Martinez had two hits to lead the Bombers. Cruise Godino added a hit also.

Landry Crawford took the win on the mound, pitching three innings, giving up two runs on three hits, striking out three and walking one. Cruise Godino pitched one inning, giving up no runs, no hits while striking out one and walking one.

In the semi-finals, the Bombers would face off against the East Texas Outlaws. The Bombers would win the game by a score of 5-0. Hunt and Lopez would manage the only hits for the Bombers, but the Bombers were the beneficiary of five walks.

Hunt would pick up the win, going four innings, giving up no runs on three hits while striking out two and walking zero.

In the championship, the Bombers would face off against the top seeded Lost Boys. Down 3-1, Pampa would score three runs in the top of the fifth to take the lead.

The Bombers managed four hits, two by Lopez, one by Hunt and one by Crawford. Cruise Godino pitched two innings, giving up three runs on four hits, striking out zero and walking one. Landry Crawford earned the win, by pitching four scoreless innings. Crawford gave up no runs on one hit, striking out one and walking two. Case Godino made a diving catch in right field in the bottom of the sixth inning to help preserve the win.

The Bombers currently have an overall record of 19-9-2.
