Back in September, Toot ‘n Totum partnered with Pampa High School to kick off their Spirit Pump program that allowed folks who carry that deep Pampa Pride to invest back into their schools, one gallon at a time.
“Every city that we have a store in and were able to accommodate a spirit pump in, we would place one,” said Toot ‘n Totum CEO Andrew Mitchell. “Every community that we serve, we were trying to serve as well with a pump, and each pump gave the community an opportunity to come together to fill up, and five cents of every single gallon that we raised from that pump went directly to each one of the local communities that we serve.”
The event ran until the second week in December, and Pampa High School was recently presented a check with the total amount of money made during those few months, totaling out to a whopping $2,844.13!
“This is really exciting for us,” said PHS Principal Clay Jones. “We appreciate our community for chipping in and helping out, and to think that much money was raised on just that one pump is really neat. We just really appreciate all of the support. We’ve got a lot of great people that want to help us.”
The program had its first run in 2022, but after a couple of years of strategic planning, Toot ‘n Totum was ready to roll it back out in the fall of 2025 with 29 schools in the area signed up to participate, and the community showed up big time.
“We used to have this back in 2022, but it didn’t have near as much of the bang as we wanted it to, so we took a couple of years off. This was our first roll out in the fall semester of 2025, and we really enjoyed the presence of each community. I believe the grand total was around $75,000 throughout the course of the communities that we serve. That all went directly into each of the high schools towards programs that involve safety. We all know that high school can be intimidating, and we just want to make sure that every kid has a safe education as they make their way through high school.”
The Spirit Pump program is only one of many ways that Toot ‘n Totum gives back to the communities that they love and serve, and it’s that continuing partnership and commitment to giving back that has helped them thrive for the last 75 years.
“We just appreciate the community of Pampa truly, because that’s what made the program work, and that’s what helps the store continue on-the help of the community. We are trying to do our part each and every day.”
