One of the greatest perks of my job is that I get to witness and be a part of successes of our students on a daily basis. In my humble opinion there will never be enough accolades to appropriately shower our kiddos with, but I digress. The Amarillo Globe News awarded Max Neff their 2022 AGN Newcomer of the Year honor in football this past week. This is such a cool honor for any player, much less a freshmen. Congratulations to Max and the rest of the Green Team for their teamwork in making this happen. Monday night, we as a campus got to honor Dr. David Godino at the school board meeting during School Board Appreciation Month. David, along with the rest of the board, are relentless in their support of PHS and much like our teachers, sometimes play a thankless role in the education process. Several of our programs came together to gift David a basket full of Harvester gear in appreciation for his service. Thanks David for all you do both for PHS and PISD as a whole! As Harvesters, we will never complain about the effects of moisture, but it did make us shuffle several events during the week. Our boys and girls soccer team moved their games to Monday and the boys came away with a huge victory over West Plains. In a rare Wednesday doubleheader, the Hustlin’ Harvesters and Lady Harvester Basketball teams hosted Hereford and both came away with district wins. Our Choir program put on their annual Evening on Broadway Wednesday and Thursday night at M.K. Brown. It was a wonderful exhibit of our students talents coupled with a tasty meal. If you ever get the opportunity to attend, I would highly recommend it. Friday and Saturday saw our programs going in several different directions. Basketball traveled to Perryton and the Lady Harvesters picked up another district win, the Lady Harvester Soccer team hosted Randall while the Harvester Soccer team traveled to Randall and left with a huge district win over a great program. Harvester Tennis started their spring campaign in Borger, and Debate traveled to Flower Mound. The Harvester Swim team competed at the Regional Swim Meet in Andrews with several of our athletes qualifying for the final day of competition, and girls wrestling traveled to Palo Duro. One thing for sure, there is little down time in the spring for our staff and students and we wouldn’t have it any other way. January has come and gone, and thanks to the efforts of our staff and students, it’s still a great day to be a Harvester!
