Pinewood Derby Day

Cub Scout Pack 423 held their annual Pinewood Derby at First United Methodist Church. Cubmaster, Cody McGehee, spoke about the importance of the event.

“This is our primary event in the scouting program. It’s iconic,” McGehee said. “Every kid makes their own individual cars. They paint it. Their parents help shape the car and the cub scouts put it together.”

Each of the participating cub scouts were able to see their car in action and see which car was the fastest.

At the event was a silent auction filled with baked goods made by each of the cub scouts. From strawberry cake to peach cobbler to Easter-themed cookies, the silent auction was Pack 423’s fundraising event.

There are around 17 cub scouts and ten leaders in Pack 423. Cubmaster McGehee eagerly welcomes new members to experience these fun-filled events.

“It’s all about excitement and excess fun,” McGehee said.
