PAMPA, TEXAS — PRMC is excited to announce the arrival of a new, advanced CT scanner. The Philips Incisive CT scanner takes detailed cross-sectional images in “128-slices” to significantly improve the accuracy of images and diagnosis, all while using a lower radiation dose.
The hospital is consistently advancing in the fight against cancer through early screening and detection. With the new CT, PRMC will be offering CT Low-Dose Lung Cancer Screening that creates a detailed study of the lungs.
The “low dose” imaging uses lower amounts of radiation than standard CT scans. The screening part is particularly useful for detecting lung cancer at an early stage, when it is more treatable. It is typically recommended for patients who are at a high risk for lung cancer, such as long-term smokers or those with a significant smoking history. The purpose of this screening is to catch lung cancer early, before symptoms appear, improving the chances of successful treatment.
PRMC’s goal is to grow with the needs of the community and add new services and capabilities.
One of the new features of the CT scanner, CT fluoroscopy, uses real-time imaging during various interventional procedures. This enables doctors to accurately guide needles or other instruments during biopsies, drainages, and other minimally invasive procedures, enhancing both precision and safety.
“Our goal is provide better healthcare to the people of the Texas Panhandle and enhance the patient experience throughout their time at our hospital. Patients will appreciate getting scanned at low dose and having a quick and highly-efficient exam. You can be confident in receiving consistent high-quality and fast results,” said Jon Gill, chief executive officer, PRMC.
The purchase and installation of the equipment follows a commitment from PRMC to provide the best early-warning care and testing in Texas Panhandle.
“The introduction of our 128-slice CT scanner is a game-changer. These advancements will allow us to provide even better care for our patients and stay at the forefront of medical imaging technology. Regular screenings can be a proactive step in managing your health and preventing serious conditions from developing unnoticed. I cannot stress enough the importance of getting screened,” said Mary Booth, regional radiology/cardiology manager, PRMC.
