Sherry Berry Cox

Sherry Berry Cox, 60, our beloved Wife, Mother and Momo left this life to spend eternity with her precious Lord on Friday, January 3, 2025. She was born on February 26, 1964, in Borger, Texas to Ernest and Kathleen Berry.

At the age of 11 years old, Sherry’s family moved from Borger to Pampa in 1975. She then attended Pampa schools and graduated from Pampa High School with the Class of ‘82’.

Not long after graduating, she met Mike Cox and the two began dating. It didn’t take long for them to realize they were a perfect fit for one another and on January 27, 1984, they exchanged vows, becoming one in the eyes of God.

Throughout her lifetime, Sherry wore many hats, she worked at Wal-Mart for over 10 years, for Sheila Webb Insurance for about 15 years, and following her retirement, she put her love of baking to use and soon became known as “Sugar Sherry” as she baked desserts for the Secret Chef At The Barn.

Sherry was a many faceted diamond with an eclectic array of interests and hobbies. She loved the peaceful solitude and accomplishment of working jigsaw puzzles, loosing herself in a good book, playing Wordscapes, singing a beautiful song while playing the piano, mowing the yard, baking up amazing desserts, challenging her grandkids at Wahoo and most importantly – being Momo to all her grandkids!

Momo literally could not say “no” to her grandkids, and they knew it. They could talk her into doing anything – including indoor skydiving. She was adventurous, stubborn and tough to be able to hang with the kids to say the least, but she was willing to try anything with them. Being Momo, surrounded by her precious grands, made her complete.

Friendly and bubbly, Sherry loved to laugh and see others happy as well. She had a genuine way about her that made others comfortable enough to let their guard down and feel at ease. Sherry had a fierce faith in God and was always extremely faithful to her church home. The Lord was her first priority, with her family being next. Nothing was more important to her.

You will be greatly missed Wife, Mom, Momo, Sugar Sherry.

She was anxiously greeted into glory by her parents; a brother, Donnie Berry; her mother and father-in-law, Elna Mae and Raymond Cox; a brother-in-law, Raymond Cox, Jr and a sister-in-law, Melinda Cox.

Her survivors include her husband of 40 years, Mike Cox of Pampa; three children, Michelle Shedd and husband Logan, Jennifer Petroski, Jonathan Cox and wife Samantha all of Pampa; two siblings, Ronnie Berry and wife Berkley of Frisco and Karla Berry of Pampa; six grandchildren, Ashton Shedd, Christopher Shedd, Harper Shedd, Madison Petroski, Barrett Cox and Riley Berry as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members who she cherished.

Sherry will be available for viewing in Winegeart Funeral Home Serenity Chapel on Monday at noon until 8pm, Tuesday, from 9 to 8pm with a Gathering of Family and Friends from 6-8pm with family present to greet friends then again Wednesday from 9 until noon.

Celebration of Life Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at New Life Assembly of God Church with Pastor Donna Carnagey officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.

The family wishes to extend a very heartfelt Thank You to Pampa Regional Medical Center ER, Med Surg, and Respiratory departments as well as Northwest Texas Hospital staff for the dedicated care given our loved one. As Thank You doesn’t seem enough to express how grateful we are for the extraordinary efforts given by Gray County EMS, Lifestar, and Carson County Emergency Personnel, please know that we value your dedication and pray blessings over each of you.

If memorials are a preference, the family suggests they be made to Sherry’s church home, New Life Assembly of God, 1435 N Sumner Street, Pampa, TX 79065 in her honor.
