Mark your calendars and get those baskets ready for the third annual City Wide Easter Egg Hunt organized and hosted by ATS Tree Service for next Saturday, March 28 starting at 11 AM in Central Park!
What started as a gesture of gratitude has grown to become one of the year’s much anticipated events, with hundreds of families enjoying a day of great food, live music, games, prizes, and of course, the massive egg hunt where kiddos scramble to collect as many of the 10,000 eggs laid out across the park that their baskets can carry.
The beloved event started as an idea by ATS Tree Service owner, Luis Herrera and his wife Myriam as a way to give back to the community that they are grateful to be a part of, and to give families a place to celebrate this important holiday in a fun way.
“Our first year was in 2024, and this was an idea that my wife and I had,” Luis said. “We wanted to do something for the community, and we thought about having egg hunts in Central Park where families could come together. We didn’t know how many eggs we were going to need since it was our first year, so we decided to come out with 10,000 eggs because we didn’t want any kids to be left out and we wanted them to be able to fill their baskets.”
“We know how it feels when a holiday comes up and there’s just not enough money to go and have fun, so because this community has given a lot to us, we wanted to give back, even if it’s just for one day for kids and their families to come out and have fun.”
The event is free to the public and is completely funded by ATS, and it’s a remarkably selfless venture because it’s not just the 10,000 candy-filled eggs that they provide, but all the fantastic contest and raffle prizes, live music, and other entertainment venues for the kids is also completely funded by them. And this year, they’re giving out 1,000 free burgers, hot dogs, and pulled pork sandwiches provided by Nelson BBQ for lunch before the egg hunt. Kiddos will have a ton to do after the hunt including plenty of games to play, bounce houses, a mechanical bull, and Zorb Balls that are always a huge hit provided by Seth Harrison.
But the event isn’t just about games, prizes, and entertainment, it’s about sharing the story of Easter and remembering why it’s celebrated.
“The first year we did this, Lance DeFever came out and opened up the event with a prayer and words of encouragement for the community, and last year, Jamisen Hancock provided a sermon about the true meaning of Easter. This event is about people coming together for a day and forgetting about what’s going on in the world and remembering all the positive things we have here in Pampa, because I believe this community is a great place to grow and live in, and we just want to give back to it.”
The schedule is as follows: registration and raffle entries will begin at 11 AM, lunch at 12 PM, and the egg hunt around 12:30 PM with games and entertainment throughout the day until about 3 PM.
So be sure to gather the family, grab those baskets, and head out to Central Park next Saturday for this wonderful community event!
