During the recent local election, one of the biggest issues expressed was about Pampa’s lack of growth. The main consensus was that there just wasn’t much to do here as far as family-friendly entertainment goes (there’s the bowling alley, water park, and movie theatre of course), and folks tend to travel to Amarillo for a family outing.
But Jared and Marilee Cagle, long-time Pampa residents, are helping change that dynamic. Welcome to Weekends Sports & Entertainment!
Located on 1300 N. Price Road right here in Pampa, Weekends provides a relaxed, yet family-friendly atmosphere with plenty of fun games, drinks on tap, and fantastic grub from local food trucks to help you wind down from the busy work week.
The vastly spacious area offers five axe-throwing bays with 15 different digital games to play for ages 10 and up, and don’t worry, Marilee and Jared took extra precautions to make the areas as safe as possible with the entire bay containing impact absorbent material. There are also two large interactive bays that can fit up to ten people with several more games to play such as shooter, golf, basketball, football and many others, with all the equipment you need to play provided to you. All bays can be rented out for 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes, allowing you plenty of time to immerse yourself in the games each bay has to offer, and there’s plenty of room for multiple players.
The enormous and tranquil ‘backyard’ features several picnic tables to enjoy food and snacks from the numerous local food trucks that will line up and continuously serve throughout the night, a large cornhole section to get your toss on, a pickleball court and a section for yard games for the kiddos as well.
Marilee would like to also utilize the big outdoor space to host vendor and craft shows at some point, further supporting Pampa’s local entrepreneurs and fellow business owners.
The massive sports garage area has plenty of room to watch your favorite sports team on one of the 17 large screen televisions as you sit, sip and decompress.
The beer on tap wall is high-tech and impressive, giving guests the opportunity to pour at their own pace, while still maintaining a safe environment for all.
“You come and check in and provide a debit card, and you’ll be given a Pour My Beer card and that is what opens the taps. They can open any tap and it’s self-served,” Marilee said. “You only get 32 ounces and if you tap out, it will prompt you to come see one of us. There will always be two attendants here so we make sure we’re keeping a gauge on people.”
“And it’s not all just beer. We have three cocktails, one cider, a Twisted Tea, and then the rest are beer. There’s 21 taps total and we have two adult slushies. But even with this system, all of it is only two servings per person.”
But drinks aren’t only just limited to the adults, as the youngsters and non-drinkers have fountain drinks, tea, and slushies, and with each pass comes free refills for the entire visit.
Marilee and Jared were inspired by a few different venues throughout Texas and Colorado, and wanted to incorporate all of those things into one establishment to fit their hometown and make a few changes of their own.
“We just wanted to mush a lot of different ideas together and give Pampa an opportunity to have as much entertainment as possible,” Marilee said.
“It was a year-long process, but a two-year contemplation. All of these are different franchises-we saw this one in Dallas, the Pour My Beer System was in Golden Mill, Colorado which is a tourist town, and TruGolf is all over the country. We thought Pampa needed something to do that is family-friendly and fun, where it can be for all ages and everyone is comfortable. We just feel like people need something to do.”
“It’s not a bar and it’s not a restaurant. We are something that is right in the middle.”
