White Deer School Board Meeting

The White Deer ISD Board of Trustees met in regular session on Monday, May 15th 2023. The Board took action to approve the minutes of previous meetings. The board listen to a project which was presented by John Paul Lenz, pertaining to his Eagle Scout project. The project is to remove and replace the flag pole at the high school with a new 30 ft. pole. The board approved this project at the April meeting.

Chance Bowers and incumbent Blaine Bolton were both administered the oath of office and seated for their new terms as members of the White Deer ISD board. The White Deer ISD Board then reorganized. Brad Haduk was voted President, Blain Bolton Vice-President, and Robert Germany as secretary.

The board was informed of a national school lunch program grant which was awarded to White Deer to be used to purchase new cafeteria equipment. The board unanimously approved the purchase of the new equipment. The next agenda item was the consideration and possible approval of the White Deer ISD stipend schedule for the 2023-2024 school year. The board approved the schedule unanimously.

The next item on the agenda was to approve the TEKs Certification for the 2023-24 school year. This action is to ensure the district is using approved textbooks and curriculum which is aligned to the state standards. The Board approved the TEKs Certification for the 2023-2024 school year. The board then approved the budget amendment due to a mistake in building the budget. There was not enough money budgeted for payroll cost in one of the functions and the board approved increasing the budget to the needed amount.

White Deer ISD Board approved the amended changes to the 2023-2024 school calendar. The last day of the Fall and Spring Semesters will now be early release days for students. The school day was also increased by 4 minutes, the last bell will now ring at 3:50 to end the school day next year.

Mr. Limbaugh the Superintendent, gave a small presentation about a new student management system, Aeries Software Inc. The presentation included the plan to implement this new system over the next year and to be fully using the new system in 2024-2025 school year. This new student management system will make it easier for teachers, administrators, and especially parents for checking on their children’s grades and attendance at the school.

The board heard reports from the principals and directors of the school district, reviewed the Business Manager’s report, and received an update from the Superintendent. The current enrollment of White Deer ISD is 317 with a daily average attendance of 302.

The board went into closed session to discuss extending professional contracts. After closed session the Superintendent recommended the board extend professional contract as presented in closed session and the board voted unanimously to extend those contracts.
