Willie Dyann Walker, 78 years of age, of Pampa, Texas, peacefully passed from this temporary home into eternal glory while her son and daughter-in-law sat at her side, holding her hands in their home.
She was born on April 21, 1946, to Harold and Mildred Dawson Burns in Chicago, Illinois.
Willie attended school in Tacoma, Washington and graduated in 1964, then in 1976, she joined the United States Army and proudly served her country. Several years later, she still felt compelled to continue her service and dedication, therefore, she enlisted in the United States Navy in 1980 where she remained until 1985.
Upon coming home to Pampa from her time in the military, Ms. Walker found comfort and solace by visiting animal shelters and loving animals. She had such a caring heart and soul that it was worrisome for her to see such precious animals without loving homes – she would have taken them all in if she could have.
She also enjoyed wandering around town and often popped into stores downtown looking for treasures to add to her trove. She was a bit of a shopaholic and always on the lookout for bargains.
Typically donned with her hat, sunglasses and lipstick, Ms. Walker always wore a beautiful smile, her sweet disposition and possibly humming a little tune. Not often, but when in the mood, she would fill the air with her angelic voice she was so very blessed with.
Ms. Walker delighted in being outdoors, soaking up the sun and taking in all of God’s beauty. At times she was scatterbrained (much like everyone at times), but nonetheless, her warm and caring heart as well as her adoration of talking to others, topped off with that beautiful smile brought out the kindness in others helping to get her back on track.
She had a fierce love and respect for Charlie and Angie – she worried about them, but only because she loved them so much. Ms. Walker’s warm and inviting smile will be missed so much.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents, brothers, Mike Dawson, Joe Dawson, Ed Dawson and Toby Dawson; sister, Ellen Dawson and her precious baby son, William Walker.
Her beautiful smile and loving nature will forever be remembered and cherished by her son, Charlie Walker and wife Angie of Pampa; three brothers, Mark Dawson and wife Doris, Steve Dawson and wife Arries, Robert Dawson all of Chicago and two grandchildren, Kelby McKinney, Logan McKinney both of Pampa.
Celebration of Life Funeral services are pending at this time. The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
