Bonnie Jean Immel

Posted

Bonnie Jean Immel, 86 years old, of Pampa, Texas, heard Jesus call her name and moved into her mansion in Glory on Monday, October 9, 2023.  She was born on December 12, 1936, in Pampa to R.C.  and Margie Brown.

Bonnie was raised in Pampa, attended school here and even worked at not only the local theater, but also the drive-in theater as a youngster.  In 1958, Bonnie married Elmer Immel and they made their home in Kellerville on the Immel Family Farm (which suited Bonnie perfectly since she was a farmgirl and loved nature more than anything) until Elmer’s passing in 1989.  Bonnie moved back to Pampa in 1990 to be closer to family.

Seeing not only the value, but also the beauty in treasures prompted her to collect things…many, many things – such as dolls, china, vintage glassware, cups and saucers, etcetera, etcetera.  Bonnie enjoyed watching movies on occasion but would much rather be playing poker!  She even taught the residents at the nursing home to play and bought a complete poker set so they could play legally with chips and not real money.  She loved life and lived it to the fullest at every opportunity, but she also appreciated her alone time.  Life with Bonnie was an adventure and never dull, she even raised a pet pig inside her house for a while until it got wedged between some furniture and decided he would rather live outside.

Over her lifespan, she had worked as an LVN for local hospitals, as a home health nurse, at McLean Nursing Home, and as the charge nurse at Coronado Heathcare before retiring.

Those who were awaiting her arrival into Heaven were her parents; beloved husband, Elmer C. Immel; granddaughter, Lacy Slater and brother, Regenal Brown.

Left to mourn her loss are her only child, Gordon Blythe and wife Kim of Pampa; sister, Barbara Brown Linn of Bartlesville, OK; grandson, Phillip Blythe and wife Sarah of Spring, TX, Trevor Slater of Pampa, Ellis Fondren, Joe Immel, David Immel, Clifford Immel, Clifford Fondren, Lisa Immel, Marcy Immel, Elizabeth Immel and numerous others; five great-grandchildren, Blake Blythe, Jace Slater, Rhaelyn McCarty, Nathen McCarty and Maddyson Slater.

The family would like to extend a very heartfelt and sincere thank you to the staff of Coronado Healthcare for the compassionate care that you so graciously gave our loved one. It means the world to us.  God bless you all!

Should donations be preferred, the family suggests they be made to Coronado Healthcare Center, 1504 W. Kentucky Avenue, Pampa, TX 79065 in memory of Bonnie.

Bonnie will be available to pay respects on Wednesday, October 11th from noon until 8pm and again Thursday 12th from 9am until 8pm in the Serenity Chapel at Winegeart Funeral Home, 300 W. Browning Avenue.

Celebration of Life Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Friday, October 13, 2023, in Winegeart Funeral Home Serenity Chapel with Pastor Nelson Feliciano officiating.  A private burial will take place in the Immel Family Cemetery.  The pallbearers are Gordon Blythe, Trevor Slater, Ellis Fondren, Joe Immel, David Immel, Clifford Immel with Mark Fondren acting as honorary pallbearer.  Services will be livestreamed on the funeral home Facebook page.
