Abel was born January 19, 1952 in Karnes City, Texas to Manuel and Epifania ‘Fannie’ Botello. As a young man he enjoyed sports and would often talk about his time playing baseball. His love for sports continued as he got older, you could find him home cheering for the Dallas Cowboys or the Texas Longhorns.

Abel was a talented artist and was offered a scholarship to an art school after high school, instead he enlisted in the Army in June 1971. After his honorable discharge he spent the majority of his adult life working in the oil and gas industry, but he was a jack of all trades. He was known for his strong work ethic and knowledge. He prided himself on being a hard worker and has passed this trait down to his children. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Abel after he retired from Scout Energy at the end of 2019. He loved living a quiet life in the country and spent his time gardening and caring for his animals. He was a stern yet loving man who would do whatever he could for his family. We will forever remember his smile and take comfort in knowing that he is at peace.

The family would like to thank the NM Heart Hospital and staff for their genuine kindness and the care they provided Abel.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, his brother; Arturo Botello and his grandson; Baby Botello.

He is survived by his children; Abel Botello Jr, Robert Botello and wife Jamie, Amanda Regalado and husband Carlos, Arthur Botello, Rickie Botello and wife Juliett, Erik Botello and wife Salina, Tillie Crawford and husband Tanner.
