Burl “Butch” Wayne Sellers

Burl “Butch” Wayne Sellers, 81, entered into eternal rest on April 16th in Victoria, TX.

Son of the late Ruby Lee “White” and Roy Clarence Sellers, he was born February 20, 1943 in Bay City, TX.

He graduated from Bay City High School in 1961 where he served in the Civil Air Patrol.

Butch learned the value of a dollar, throwing newspapers as a young boy. He was proud to have saved enough money to buy a brand-new Cushman motor scooter.

This began his love affair with motorcycles, and all things with a motor. He would go on to own several motorcycles, boats and even an airboat that he really enjoyed.

Butch entered the Army in 1964. He was stationed in Korea, and proudly served as an MP in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the badges of Expert Marksman (pistol .45) and Sharpshooter (rifle M14).

Butch married Elizabeth Ann Ryman in May 1964. This union brought forth two children, Tracy and Keith.

After the service Butch worked at Dow Chemical and Hoechst Celanese as a chemical operator, eventually retiring from the Pampa, TX plant as a supervisor.

While at the Pampa plant he made two very special friends, Honey Kemph and Jim Stanley.

He was a master at sarcastic humor. One never had to wonder where you stood with Butch, he made his thoughts very clear.

He had many hobbies that included fishing, hunting, pigeon racing, an avid NASCAR fan, the Intimidator was his favorite driver, going on cruises (his favorite by far was Alaska) cooking, and going all over for the perfect plate of BBQ. He never found the perfect plate, but came close at Snow’s in Lexington.

Butch had many roles in his life, but by far his favorite was that as a father and PaPa.

He was preceded into heaven by his parents, wife, daughter, and dog Willie.

Those that are left to cherish Butch’s memory are his son Keith and wife Shelley of Amarillo, TX; brother Clarence and wife Dorothy of Lake Jackson, TX; grandson’s Dasen and Kaden Sellers of Amarillo, TX and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
