PAMPA (FRI. MARCH 1, 2024) –  Community Christian School of Pampa held their biggest annual fundraiser at the MK Brown Heritage center.

Before the event kicked off, CCS Principal Laura Green lead everyone in prayer with the devastation from the recent wildfires heavy on the heart and mind.

Following prayer, Mrs. Green acknowledged all those who have dedicated themselves to the success of the Community Christian School and its students, including all the teachers and instructors, members of the Board, her husband and all those who work behind the scenes.

“This is our annual appreciation and fundraising banquet. I love that we have the opportunity to publicly thank so many of you,” Green said.

“I want to begin with the backbone of our school which is our staff. I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing these people are. Your children are truly blessed to have such qualified and gifted role models teaching them everyday.”

“Next is our board members. They’re unknown and overlooked, yet extremely important to the welfare and function of our school.”

“Others that I would like to thank-you know who you are. You’re the volunteer who shows up; you’re the chapel speaker that faithfully comes on Tuesday morning to give the message to our kids; you’re the sound lady that makes sure we can hear the chapel speaker or when the kids sing; you’re the clean up crew who knows that with a school with this many kids, you’re needed; you’re the paper goods supply person whose job is never-ending; you’re the cake baker who makes the famous CCS chocolate cake; you’re the table sponsor who makes sure to encourage other businesses; you’re the after-care worker that makes it possible for all the moms and dads to pick up their kids later; you’re the police officer that shows up every morning and gives us comfort and security; you’re the tiny church that lovingly supports us; you’re the faithful widow; you’re the generous single gal; you’re the small business owner; I can go on and on. We appreciate you and God sees you.”

Mrs. Green then gave a heartfelt thank you to her husband, Guy Green.

“He challenges me to use the gift and skills God has given me and encourages me in all the areas that I don’t have and promises me that God will enable. He reminds me of the eternal reward and the difference that we’re all making here with your kids that we have the priviledge of having day after day.”

Lynn Smith, one of the founders of Community Christian School, was also in attendance and Mrs. Green took the time to acknowledge and honor her.

“This beautiful lady and another group of ladies got together more than 20 years ago and started checking out Christian schools. They did a lot of research and talked to a lot of people and long story short, founded CCS. All three of my adult children got to go through CCS and if it wasn’t for the vision and the prayer of this woman and the others, we wouldn’t have this school and we are super grateful.”

Paul Beam, lead pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Pampa and board member of CCS, led everyone in prayer before the meal was served and spoke to the audience about the importance of CCS and the impact they’ve made through the years and continue to make.

“There our certain things that our public schools cannot do and there are boundaries and parameters that they cannot change, and I think the awesome thing about CCS is the fact that we have the freedom to focus on what is of first importance: it’s important for us to teach our children the ways of the Lord, we are commanded to do this. At CCS, we have the freedom and the ability to speak openly about the things of first importance.”

“I’m so proud of our teachers, Mrs. Green, our administration and all those who poured time and effort into helping these students know about who Christ is and grow in Him and walk with Him. Thank you for teaching our children the ways of our Lord.”

The rest of the night consisted of a dinner provided by Verona’s Italian Bistro, tables chock full of colorful desserts, including Community Christian School’s infamous chocolate cake. a live auction with items donated and made by numerous businesses around Pampa and a 50/50 raffle with a cash prize being donated back to the school from the winner.

All of the dining tables were lined with art done by the students during School Choice Week and the reasons why they love their school, showing a precious display to everyone in attendance just what makes Community Christian School special.

But the highlight of the night was the program put on by the students, organized and directed by music instructor, Suzie Ohsfeldt.

The students recited scripture and sang sweet musical numbers such as Grandpa, May I Have a Tiny Sip of Coffee, The Grandma Song, Crazy People, and Is He Worthy, with a few students showing off their solo singing skills.

The fundraiser was a fantastic success, raising a whopping $16,000 for the school and the entire staff of CCS thanks everyone who made the incredible night possible.
