COVID-19 update as of March 20

Posted

As most of you are aware Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued a state wide Executive Order to help combat the spread of COVID-19 in the state of Texas.

What this means for our citizens is that these are no longer suggestions, these are now law. This Executive Order does not prohibit you visiting some places for essential needs. However if you need to visit these places (grocery store, gas station, etc.) please practice the preached precautions on social distancing and sanitation. As we all have heard many times we would suggest you always keep in mind you do everything in your power to help “flatten the curve.”

Some important information from Governor Abbotts orders include:

Order No. 1 - In accordance with the Guidelines from the President and the CDC, every person in Texas shall avoid social gatherings in groups of more than 10 people. Order No. 2 - In accordance with the Guidelines from the President and the CDC, people shall avoid eating or drinking at bars, restaurants, and food courts, or visiting gyms or massage parlors; provided, however, that the use of drive-thru, pickup, or delivery options is allowed and highly encouraged throughout the limited duration of this executive order. Order No. 3 - In accordance with the Guidelines from the President and the CDC, people shall not visit nursing homes or retirement or long-term care facilities unless to provide critical assistance. Order No. 4 - In accordance with the Guidelines from the President and the CDC, schools shall temporarily close.

Earlier this week, Gray County Judge Chris Porter swore in Dr. Kevin Sieck as the Local Health Authority for Gray County. This allows Dr. Sieck to administer state and local laws regarding public health within our county.

On Wednesday, March 18, we implemented a Coronavirus Activation Chart. At that time we were on yellow, which is zero confirmed cases in Gray County. Of all testing done in Pampa, as of 8:00 pm today, there have been ZERO confirmed cases in Gray County and we are still at level yellow.

When there is information to be given out, we will go above and beyond to make sure you are as informed as possible in a timely manner.
