Dee Randall takes over as director of GrayCares

GrayCares Living at Home will have a new director for the first time in 11 years after Donna Brauchi retires at the end of the month.

Dee Randall will take Brauchi’s place and shares in her passion for taking care of the elders.

“I’ve always had a passion for the older neighbors,” Randall said. “I taught a Sunday School class at First Baptist Church for ladies 85 and older. When I was growing up I spent a lot of time with my great-grandmother.

“I see a need for things like changing light-bulbs, taking out the trash or other areas. It’s important that we take care of our older neighbors.”

Randall previously worked at Insurica-Duncan, Frasier and Bridges for 32 years (retired 2019) where she aided widows/widowers in taking care of insurance policies previously set by their deceased.

“The other spouse may had taken care of the insurance and other matters,” Randall said. “So I helped explain what everything meant. I just have a passion for that age group and the young marrieds.”

Randall is a 1973 graduate of Pampa High School and now looks to her position in GrayCares Living at Home to be there for those in need.

GrayCares Living at Home is a non-profit organization that non-medical, in-home independent living support for people ages 65 and older in Gray County.

“It’s volunteer-driven,” Randall said. “We provide minor grocery-shopping, light house-keeping, changing light-bulbs, etc. COVID-19 restrictions have removed the transportation service but now volunteers write cards and keep in touch with the older neighbors to make sure they are okay.”

GrayCares is also partnered with Texas Ramp Project to help build wheel-chair ramps for clients who are wheel-chair-bound.

Randall’s late husband, Steve, passed away in July 2017. Randall has one daughter and five grandchildren and attends First Baptist Church.
