Dorothy “Dot” Faye McKinney, 90, of Denver, passed away on February 25, 2022 in Denver.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Highland Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Nachtigall, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

Dot was born on March 27, 1931 in McLean to Thadys Roena Hedger. When Dot was 8 years old, her mother married Gene Hedger. Gene was the only father she knew. Growing up, Dot, enjoyed singing with her sister, Ruby Nell. Church and music were and remained a big part of her life. Dot married Jay McKinney in 1951 and together they had two children, David and Sherrill. In 1971, Dot and her daughter moved from Wyoming to Pampa, this is where she made her home for many years. She loved to sew and was always making dresses for her granddaughters. Dot was very active in the church. She enjoyed singing specials at church and spending time with her church family. Dot was known to always have her camera in her hand and would take pictures constantly. She loved to travel with her family, friends, and other members of her church. Dot was a long-time member of Highland Baptist Church. She was very proud of her faith and the role it played in her life.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents; her twin brothers; and one granddaughter-in-law.

She is survived by her children, David McKinney and wife Patty of Arvada, Colorado and Sherrill Jones and Eddie of Canyon; her sister, Ruby Nell Champagne of Woodville; 7 grandchildren, Gina and husband Scott, and Robert, all of Pampa, John of Florida, Julie, Chris and wife Wendy, Jeff and wife Kim, Jody and husband Micah, all of Colorado; 25 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
