Dorothy Neely Fife, 98, of Amarillo, formerly of Pampa, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, May 6, 2021 in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Dorothy was born April 6, 1923 in Myra, Texas to Walter and Robbie Neely. She attended elementary school in Van Slyke, Myra, and graduated from Gainesville High School where she was Valedictorian and the first in her family to graduate from high school. After high school, Dorothy, went on to graduate from Brantley-Draughn Business College in Fort Worth. She married J.B. Fife on June 17, 1944 in Marietta, Oklahoma.  He passed away on December 3, 2010 after 66 years of marriage. Dorothy worked several jobs during her career which include a clerk typist at Montgomery Wards in Fort Worth, stenographer at North American America Aviation in Grand Prairie, Deputy Clerk at Randall County Clerk’s Office in Canyon, and a secretary at Cabot Oil and Gas in Pampa. 

Dorothy was a member of Central Baptist Church in Pampa.  She enjoyed the art of calligraphy, story compositions, and poetry.  She also loved singing in the church choir from a very young age, playing the guitar, the omni cord, and the piano.  She loved ice cream and a hot cup of coffee while eating Sock-It-To-Me cake. Even in her last days, she was wanting coffee and a piece of cake.

She is preceded in death by her husband J.B. Fife, son Jerry Fife and all seven of her brothers and sister (the Neely Bunch). 

Her survivors include her two daughters, Sue McGee and husband Lynn of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Donna Langley and husband Dave of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
