Niels Sørensen rounds out the newest hire for PCC (Pampa Country Club). Niels who is originally from Denmark has been in the U.S. since 2015 for college. Attending a Junior College, Jacksonville College, in South Texas before moving onto Cameron University in Lawton Oklahoma.

“After I finished my time at Cameron I started working for a country club in Lawton,” Sørensen said. “I worked there for 2 years until moving here for my wife.”

Sørensen’s wife is an elementary school teacher and got a job in Pampa working as a kindergarten teacher. The move is what opened the door for Sørensen at Pampa Country Club where he started out under the previous pro, Tim Stadler.

“I worked under Tim for 2 weeks,” Sørensen said. “I was still new to Pampa, but not to the world of golf. So when they asked me to step up, I said yes.”

Along with his long stint working in golf for different clubs, Sørensen still has goals and aspirations of going pro in golf. Until that day comes, Sørensen has his eyes set on making positive changes to the pro shop he’s taken over.

“With myself, I always value quality over quantity,” Sørensen said. “Our inventory was loaded up and we weren’t moving out products as quickly to make it necessary to keep that much So I am working on clearing that out and tidying up the shop all around before I do anything else.”

Without naming too many changes he wants to make, that broad statement is improving the look and efficiency of the pro shop before next years season.

Sørensen shares the vision of the new General Manager, Garrett Gross, that vision being more members from the community and opening the club to everyone.

The country club also hosted a few junior golf camps led by Sørensen, and anticipates more in the coming years.

“We had a good turn out of kids out here,” Sørensen said. “That’s what we want. I want to engage more young kids in playing golf, it’s a sport for all ages.”
So far, the club has had a 10 week program for junior golfers and plan to start back with camps in the spring.

The country club will continue growing out it’s community involvement and camps for golfers, to stay up to date on all the happening events, tune in to Pampa Country Club on Facebook. For any questions for the new program, contact the country club at (806) 669-3286
