On Friday, August 4, 2023 at 9:25 pm, approximately seven miles west of Lazbuddie, Colby Sneller, 32, driving a 2016 Ford F150 was traveling east on FM 145 and approaching a slight left curve in the roadway. The driver failed to negotiate the curve and veered off to the south of the road. The driver then overcorrected the steering wheel to the left and entered into a right-side skid back across the roadway.
The vehicle traveled into the north ditch, struck a steep dirt embankment, and rolled over multiple times before resting in a field on its top facing northwest. The unsecured driver was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor during the crash. Justice of the Peace Baker pronounced the driver deceased on the scene and ordered an autopsy.
The paved road was dry and the weather was cloudy at the time of the crash.
