Former PHS coach Lopez sentenced to 15 years

Former Pampa High School soccer and football coach, Andy Alexander Lopez, was sentenced on July 1, 2021 to 15 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Lopez accepted a plea deal on two, second-degree felony charges. His two charges were sexual assault and an improper relationship between an educator and a student. The two charges will be served concurrently. The age of the victim was 14-years-old at the time of the incident in 2017. He was given time served for 692 days. He also has to register as a sex offender. His fines were $1,000 and court costs of $290 for each charge. He will owe $60 in reimbursement fees for each charge.

Other cases held on July 1, 2021:

• Stefani Denise Ross accepted a plea deal for a second-degree felony of possesion of a controlled substance, greater than or equal to four grams but less than 200 grams on March 13, 2021. Her sentence was for six years in TDJC. She was given time served for 110 days of jail and will owe $1,000 in fines and $290 in court costs. She will also owe $180 in resititution and $750 in reimbursement fees.

• Joshua Lee Knoop accepted a plea deal for a second-degree felony as well as two state jail felonies. The second-degree felony was for the charge of burglary of a habitation on September 4, 2019. He was sentenced to two-years in TDJC and will owe $1,000 in fines, $290 in court costs and $880 in reimbursment fees. He was given time served of 268 days. One state jail felony was for the charge of evading arrest with a previous conviction on April 13, 2019. He was sentenced to 180 days for that charge. He was given $1,000 in fines, $290 in court costs, and $940 in reimbursment fees. His last sentence was for 180 days as well for the charge of fraudulent use/possession of indentifying information. The number of items was less than five. That occurred on October 21, 2020. He was given $1,000 in fines, $290 in court costs and $800 in reimburstment fees. All three sentences will run concurrently.

• Bobby Joe Sanchez accepted a plea deal on two, second-degree felonies. The first was for possession of a controlled substance, greater than or equal to four grams but less than 200 grams. The sentence was for two years in TDJC. The fines were $1,000, with $290 for court costs, and $180 in restitution and $800 in reimbursment fees. Time served credit of 61 days. The second charge was for manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance, greater than or equal to four grams but less than 200 grams. The sentence was also for two years and the fines, court costs, reimbursment fees, and restitution were the same. Both sentences will be served concurrently.

• Ashley Joe Fleetwood was sentenced to three years in TDJC for a motion to revoke probation. The sentence commenced on June 29, 2021. The fines were $1,000 for each charge, $290 for court costs on each charge; and $850 in reimbursment fees on each charge. The original community supervision order was given on October 22, 2020. The orginal charges were from December 2019 on fraudulent use/possession of identifying information and theft of property, greater than or equal to $2,500 but less than $30,000.

All cases were held in the 223rd Judicial District Court of Gray County, Texas. The presiding judges were Phil Vanderpool and Steven Emmert.
