Lady Harvesters Fall to Randall

Posted

The Pampa Lady Harvesters fell to 5-1 with an 18-7 loss on Friday to the Randall Lady Raiders.

It was all Randall from the start, as they would score four in the first, three in the second, five in the third and four in the fifth, before Pampa finally got it going at the plate in the bottom of the fifth.

Trailing 15-0 after the top of the fifth, Pampa needed six runs to extend game.  With two outs, Pampa would mount a furious rally to score those six runs and extend the game into the sixth inning.

With Pampa down to their final out, McKinley Daniels a double to left-center field.  Briley Daniels then singled up the middle scoring McKinley. Briley would reach second on an error by the center fielder.   Maecie Hawthorne then lined an 0-1 pitch over the left field fence for a two-run home run, making the score 15-3. Kassie Arnzen singed, Cambree Dyer walked putting runners at first and second.  Michelle Gallego then lined a double to right center field scoring Kassie and Cambree, making the score 15-5.  After a walk to Peton Gowin, Ella Hudson lined a 2-2 pitch scoring Michelle from third, cutting the lead to 15-6.

However, Randall would add three more runs in the top of the sixth to extend the lead to 18-6.  Needing another rally to extend the game, Pampa was only able to score one run in the bottom of the sixth.  Kassie singled scoring Briley.

Pampa banged out twelve hits in the game.  Briley led Pampa with three hits, while McKinley and Michelle added two hits a piece.  Carsyn Hunt, Maecie and Ella added one hit for the Lady Harvesters.  Pampa uncharacteristically suffered from several errors on defense.

In other action Friday, Dumas defeated West Plains 5-4, Canyon beat Borger 8-4 and Herford topped Perryton 8-2.  With one game left in the first half, Dumas is now in sole possession of first place at 6-0, Pampa is alone in second place at 5-1, Randall is alone in third place at 4-2, Canyon and West Plains are tied for fourth at 3-3, Hereford is now in sixth place at 2-4, Borger is in seventh place at 1-5 and Perryton is in last place at 0-6.

Next week the Lady Harvesters will travel to Dumas on Tuesday and Canyon on Friday.
