Marsha Poole was raised in Pampa and started working with FirstBank Southwest 16 years ago working in ‘Check 21 Imaging.’

“I started out just working in back at part time because I had two small kids,” Poole said. “When I started it was a new technology for the time.”

The job entailed taking in paper checks and scanning them in to be processed at the Amarillo bank via courier.

“Our day would end at 3 so the courier could come collect the checks,” Poole said. “But now we do that all electronically so it makes it easier for us.”

After working in that position, Poole moved up to a personal banker. But after 41 years Jeri Joiner, Poole’s supervisor is retiring.

“Jeri has been my supervisor throughout the time I’ve been a personal banker,” Poole said. “So for the past three years I’ve been working with Jeri training for her position while still doing my job.”

Poole spent time at the Amarillo office learning more about the position, as well as taking courses to set her up to take over the job.

“Jeri has built a good team and trained me very well,” Poole said. “So I feel ready for this journey, and I feel so blessed for the opportunity.”

Poole will now oversee the personal bankers and bank tellers.

“It’s my job now to make sure my team is the best suited to serve our members of the bank,” Poole said. “We have standards and ethics we uphold and part of my job is insuring we keep those.”

FirstBank Southwest opened it’s new location at 300 W Kingsmill Ave and is opened to serve the community of Pampa

“We treat all of our members like family,” Poole said. “Here you’re not a number, you’re a name. I couldn’t do my job without my team.”
