Buddy’s Home Furnishings, located at 1533 N. Hobart St., has a new manager as Monica Magallanes took over the position two weeks ago after joining the company in August.
Magallanes moved to Pampa 16 years ago from Spearman and has spent the last six years working in retail and management.
“I’ve worked at Aaron’s in both franchise and corporate settings,” Magallanes said. “But I like the atmosphere and the people here at Buddy’s. I have great co-workers. I love the customers and the interaction. I like getting to know them.”
Magallanes said Pampa has been a great home for her and her family.
“It’s a calm town and school was great for the kids,” Magallanes said. “I had three of my kids graduate from [Pampa High School]. So, it’s wonderful.”
Buddy’s Home Furnishings carries electronics, furniture (bedroom and living room sets).
“We carry several brands,” Magallanes said. “We carry Ashley’s. A lot of people like Ashley’s Brand. We try to provide as much as we can for the customers, even with the (supply chain) shortage.”
Buddy’s has four members on staff including an accounts manager, a sales manager and a driver. Three of the staff members are bilingual.
Buddy’s offers “six months same as cash” on transactions over $900 and “four months same as cash” on transactions under around $500.
“That helps a lot,” Magallanes said. “Last year, we had a promotion that was ‘nine months same as cash’ and we look forward to maybe having that again this year. That helps a lot for people who like paying ‘same as cash.’ We might have, ‘pay one week, get one week free.’ We do match prices, as well.”
Magallanes said there isn’t a credit check and Buddy’s just takes basic personal information.
Buddy’s Home Furnishings is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. They are closed Sundays and holidays.
Magallanes is looking forward to working with the Pampa community and beyond.
“I’m looking forward to bringing customers in from the surrounding area and Texas Panhandle,” Magallanes said. “We have great service and a great staff.”
