The Pampa Junior High cross-country team concluded its season Saturday at the Canyon Junior High Cross Country Championships, competing against tough competition with approximately 200 runners participating in each race.

In the girls’ division, eighth-grader Kaitlyn Resendiz led Pampa with a 48th-place finish, while seventh-grader Karen (Sofia) Hernandez finished 101st.

On the boys’ side, eighth-grader Tiago Silva paced the Harvesters with a 48th-place finish, followed by fellow eighth-grader Wade Camden in 65th. Eighth-grader Grayson Jones finished 115th, while eighth-grader Michael Williams placed 157th. Seventh-grader Kevin Dominguez rounded out Pampa’s finishers in 186th place.

Despite the challenging competition, Pampa Head Cross-Country Coach Otis Chunn praised his runners for their efforts throughout the season.

“The competition was tough, but our runners represented the middle school extremely well,” Chunn said. “I am very proud of their efforts. The path to improvement is clear. If you want to be the best, you have to train. While there is plenty of hard work ahead, the team is ready to meet the challenge. Go Harvesters Go!”
