PAWS Celebrates 14 Years with Pawty Gras Shrimp Boil

Posted

On Saturday, February 24, the Pampa Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) held their annual shrimp boil fundraiser, the third of its kind, to mark 14 years of the nonprofit organization’s operation.

The event is the biggest fundraiser held by PAWS of the year that raises money to continue to accomodate the needs of all the shelter animals in their care: from paying veterinarian bills and providing services through the spay and nueter program for low income families with pets, to the animals’ basic needs, such as food and bedding.

The shrimp and vegetables were provided and prepared by Kevin and Melanie Redding, as well as Laura King, from Laura’s Country Kitchen, providing the brisket to the non-shrimp eaters.

The event also consisted of a live and silent auction with beautiful, handcrafted items created and donated by members of the community, with the Wheeley family donating their time to set up and run the auction.

Many of the shelter dogs were showcased for adoption with at least two of them being adopted during the event.

An award for volunteer of the year was given to Petie Bullis for her unwavering dedication and all the hard work she has done for PAWS.

Faustina Curry, director of the Pampa Animal Welfare Society, and Tori Kelley, board member and volunteer, thank everyone who contributed to the success of the fundraiser and to all those who came to support the cherished organization.
