Rebranding Pampa

Posted

The city of Pampa appears to be going through another period of growth. Everywhere you look changes are developing. Construction is happening, building new things and refreshing old things, businesses are opening, and more events are taking place. It was only a matter of time before the City officials decided to match all of the big changes with a facelift for their image of the city.

Several weeks ago, a rebranding committee was put together, consisting of Chris Woods from public works, Harley Estes from the Fire Dept, Ben Ponce of community services, Stephanie Willoughby from the police department, Casey Gowan of finance, Tyler Hooper of IT, Kimberlee Hughes of administration and the community services director himself, Dustin Miller. No group of people could possibly know the city better than these fine folks who are out and among it, involved in the community every day. These are the people who were tasked with giving Pampa a fresh new look, starting with a new logo.

After consulting with artists and designers, several ideas were presented to the city commissioners. With so many creative options a clear favorite still pulled ahead in popularity among officials, a brand showcasing an outline of the great state of Texas labeled with “City of Pampa” and a star marking the approximate location of Pampa. Originally, the board was leaning towards a familiar color theme of green and gold, being Harvesters at heart. In the end, wanting to differentiate themselves from what might be confused with school-related officials, the board decided on a patriotic red and blue, with black text to better stand out, color theme.

Residents can expect to see the new city logo begin replacing the familiar tower P logo of the last 40 years or so on official documents and around town in the coming months. Several new vehicles obtained with insurance proceeds, after the majority of city vehicles were totaled by the hail storm in June, will also be branded with the new logo. A new website may also be in the works showcasing the new logo to continue refreshing the look of the city of Pampa.
