Something good

Posted

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

“I just feel like something good is about to happen, I just feel like something good is on its way.” This old song still offers hope in the midst of the struggles we are confronted with in our world. We know something good is just around the corner for those who trust Christ and follow Him through life.

There are those who are dealing with health issues. Some are dealing with emotional issues impacting their families. Others are dealing with the virus that has impacted our world. Truth is that no matter where you live, work or worship, there is probably a struggle you’re in or headed for at this time.

The glimpses of ‘something good on its way” have provided inspiration in the trials we face. God has been gracious to us. Things that seemed too much to overcome have been overcome. Struggles remain in front of us that will be difficult, but not impossible to overcome.

On the world front people are being impacted by hurricane’s hitting the coast line, the fires in the west and northwest and the protests that continue. The struggles that people are being faced with have caused a great deal of distress.

In the midst of all these things, it made me think. When you consider all the struggles it can be overwhelming, yet we must face them. But there is good news in this for us. Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33). What a comfort to know that regardless what confronts us; Jesus has walked the road and overcome them.

I suppose what Paul said in 1 Cor. 10:13 concerning temptation would surely fit here. He said, “No temptation (struggle) has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation (struggle) will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it. That’s good stuff!

No matter what we are confronted with as we go through life, we can know that in Christ we can overcome the struggles we face. Janet Paschal sings “God Will Make a Way.” One line says, “God will make a way, when there seems to be no way, Forever He is faithful.”

Jesus said in Mark 11:22 – “Have faith in God.” If that were the only truth we glean from that song or from the truth of God’s Word, it would be enough. God will make a way to salvation when there seems to be no way – He did through Jesus.

He will make a way when we struggle against the powers and principalities of this world as we put on the full armor of God (Eph. 6:10-17). He will make a way when we face the issues of the everyday as we surrender to Jesus. He will make a way to live in peace as we find our rest Him.

I would never promise that there won’t be struggles, but as you hold to Jesus those struggles will make you stronger. I know that God will make a way for you to walk through each day, stand on the other side and say, “God is faithful.” God will make a way for you to live a life that is full of joy, peace and contentment, even in the midst of your struggles.

So in the days to come remember the words of Jesus, “…take courage, for I have overcome the world.” And remember that not only will God make a way in the midst of your struggles in life; He has made a way for you to have victory in the midst of your struggles in sin. He has done that because He is faithful and through Jesus Christ.

By the way, “I just feel like something good is about to happen. I just feel like something good is on its way.” What a sweet thought that is!

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
