The Texas Panhandle War Memorial Center is proud to host a Missing in America Honor Mission Thursday May 6 at 6 p.m. at the War Memorial, 4111 S. Georgia. The unclaimed remains of eight honorably discharged service members will be honored at this ceremony, then escorted by the Patriot Guard to Dallas National Cemetery for a military internment on May 7. The Patriot Guard escort will stop in Weatherford and be joined by additional Patriot Guard members from South Texas to complete the journey to Dallas.

Seven of the service members were Vietnam War veterans, one served during peacetime. One was in the Navy, one in the Coast Guard, and six in the Army.

The 6 p.m. ceremony at the War Memorial will include an invocation, the pledge of allegiance, singing of the Stars Spangled Banner, presentation of colors, and reading of the service member’s names. Potter County Judge Nancy Tanner is the featured speaker. Randy Willmon Potter County Veteran Service Officer will also have some remarks.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. Please help us honor and remember these veterans on their last journey.
