The Holy Spirit Warns Christians: “It” Is Obsolete & Outdated

Posted

Are you wondering what “IT” is? We will get to that in a few moments.

Check out this list and tell me what all these items have in common. Dialing phones, pay phones, floppy discs, cassette tapes, 8 track tapes, developing film, movie rental stores, land line phones, physical maps, vcr, fax machine, phone directory, encyclopedia, dictionary, CD, record store, etc. Not hard to figure that one out, huh.

These are all things that once were very, very important in most of our lives, but now they are all either OBSOLETE or OUTDATED or soon to be. Now collectors may be interested in these items, but not the everyday user. Someone may want them as a decoration, but not for practical use. Just because these items were once very important in our lives, didn’t guarantee that they always would be. And the moment that the NEW items were created, the OBSOLETE or OUTDATED things began to fade away.

With that plain truth in mind, how about we shift gears into the spiritual realm, in fact, into the realm of the Holy Spirit. The Bible in composed of the Old Testament (39 books) and the New Testament (27 books/letters). Even though humans penned the words in those books/letters, the Holy Spirit (part of the Godhead, part of the Trinity) was the one guiding and inspiring those 40 human followers of God. Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:20–21

One such book/letter that was inspired by the Holy Spirit is found in the NT: HEBREWS. In 8:13 the Holy Spirit inspired these words: By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear. (cf. 8:7-13)

In scripture there are 2 primary Covenants from God. The Old Covenant and the New Covenant. The Holy Spirit inspired the writer of Hebrews to declare the Old Covenant as: OBSOLETE (2 times), OUTDATED and SOON TO DISAPPEAR. For most Christians this is an easy to understand truth. Christians are no longer under the Old Covenant; Christians are joined by God to the NEW COVENANT!

However, these days, Christianity is being infiltrated, even right here in Pampa, by some false teachers trying to mix the old with the new, encouraging Christians to return to the old. In many places it is called the Hebrew Roots Movement. NOTE: This drifting back to the Old Covenant is the very heresy that the book of Hebrews was written to fight and disprove.

Why would any faithful Christian ever consider “returning” to the OBSOLETE, the OUTDATED and the SOON TO DISAPPEAR?

Why would any faithful Christian ever consider “mixing” the OBSOLETE, the OUTDATED and the SOON TO DISAPPEAR with the NEW COVENANT?

Every faithful Christian who is knowledgeable of the basics truths of the Christian faith WOULD NEVER consider “returning” to the old or “mixing” the old with the NEW.

If you have friends or family who have been deluded by this heresy, plead with them to read the book of Hebrews over and over and over again. And if the book of Hebrews cannot open a person’s eyes and heart to this false teaching, then the only thing you can do is pray for the Holy Spirit to convict them of their sin and deliver them from this false teaching and lead them to repentance. God bless.
