Two more from the Pampa Harvesters soccer program are signing to take their game to the next level.

Angel Bejarano and Emilio Tierrablanca signed to play at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview and Oklahoma Panhandle State University, respectively.

“Both Emilio and Angel contributed since last year,” Head Coach Hugo Aguillon said. “It’s very hard to have left-footed players in a program. We had two, one played wing and one played defense, they’ve been part of the success due to the fact they were able to play our system. They could dribble down the line and didn’t have to switch to the other side like right-footed players do. It was a big, big factor.”

Angel Bejarano said joining another Harvester, Yahir Camacho, at WBU was a big part of his decision.

“The team is very good and I’m excited to attend,” Bejarano said. “Yahir (Camacho, Pampa goalie) is going too, and he is very good.”

Tierrablanca liked that OPSU, located in Goodwell, Okla., is in a rural community similar to Lefors and White Deer.

“It’s in a really small town, kind of like Lefors, White Deer, etc.,” Tierrablanca said. “I kind of like the quiet town, I didn’t want a big city. I’m a rural kind of guy. They have a nice field, facilities and a lot of good coaches and players. I got along with a lot of them when I went and visited.”

Bejarano said Aguillon was a big supporter during his high school career while Tierrablanca appreciates Aguillon getting the most out of the team.

“When Coach A became the guys coach our sophomore year,” Tierrablanca said. “He made a lot of us in our prime but for me I’m not done yet. I think I still have a lot more to go.”

Bejarano enjoyed the tournaments that Pampa competed in.

“The tournaments were very fun,” Bejarano said. “All of these memories were cool for me.”

Tierrablanca said winning the playoff games were some of his favorite memories from the season, but it was beating Canyon on Senior night that was the biggest memory.

“This year, it was my milestone my other four years,” Tierrablanca said. “I had seven goals, six assists and won three golden balls. It was just crazy. I was in a better position and had more assists. This year was truly different. My favorite memory was on Senior Night when we were tied 1-1 against Canyon and I went in and scored the goal to break the tie.

Bejarano plans to become an electrician while Tierrablanca would like to pursue a professional career in soccer.

“I want to get my bachelor’s degree, learn some history and become a coach, but that’s my plan B,” Tierrablanca said. “My Plan A, for sure, is to pursue a professional soccer career.”

Aguillon is very proud of both players and what they have overcome in their careers.

“I’m very proud of both of them,” Aguillon said. “They’ve gone through so many things in their high school career. For them to go through that adversity and sign with a college, that’s great. Both of them contributed a lot to the team. I’m gonna miss them deeply. They brought so much energy to the program.”
