Vestal Gene Bailey of McLean, TX passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022 at the age of 95 years.
Graveside Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, December 30, 2022 in Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean with Rev. Thacker Haynes, officiating.

Vestal was born on February 7, 1927 in McLean to Jack and Lorena Bailey and was the second oldest of four sons and a daughter. He grew up working on the family farm in McLean. Vestal attended McLean High School and served in the Merchant Marines during World War II where he received the following awards and medals; Victory Medal, Presidential Testimonial Letter, Merchant Marine Emblem, and Honorable Service Betlon.
On August 7, 1948 he married, Patsy, Ruth Ballard in Pampa Texas. They made their home in McLean where they raised the daughter, Pam, and a son, Rodney. The family were members of the First Baptist Church in Kellerville and McLean, Texas. He was employed by Skelly Oil, Getty Oil and Texaco. He retired in 1988 after 41 years of service.
Vestal loved helping his dad on the family farm. In the years after he retired, he and Pat loved working.and taking care of the farm and cattle.
Vestal is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lorena Bailey; Brothers, Melvin Bailey, Charles Bailey, Jackie Don Bailey; and his wife, Patsy Bailey.
His surviving family members include: a sister, Jan and Gene Thompson; a daughter, Pam and Dickie Crockett; a son, Rodney and Wendy Bailey; four grandchildren, Cassie and Bryan Pollard, Blake and Stefanie Crockett, Deedra and Jeremy Pace, and Brooke and Richard Hill; nine great grandchildren, Derek and Shayna Jones, Madison Jones, Brynleigh, Breccan, and Braylee Crockett, Cohen and Lilly Pace, and Bailey and Brock Hill; and two great great grandchildren, Maci and Copeland; extended family include numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be sent to Gentiva Hospice.
