Welcome the Fire Relief Convoy on April 6!

Posted

On Saturday, April 6, a four 18-wheeler convoy will be coming through Pampa bringing a multitude of items to go toward those affected by the February wildfires.

Organized by Odessa resident and veteran Rick Mitchell, the convoy will be bringing supplies that include hay, pet and horse feed, cattle pellets and medical supplies just to name a few.

“I come from a ranching family, so when I heard about all the wildfires going on up there, it really hit home,” Mitchell said. “I wanted to do something to help out and so I started talking to a lot of people about where to get hay and feed and people that wanted to help just started blowing up.”

“My oath during the military didn’t stop when my service was over. I will always live by that oath-to serve. But this is what Texas is all about-Texans helping Texans.”

The convoy will come through Amarillo and make its way to Pampa along Highway 60 and straight to the Bull Barns at the Rodeo grounds around 12 or 1 PM where pick-ups will be available to all those in need.

The Pampa VFW Post 1657 will help with distribution and invites everyone afterwards to lunch at the post.

So join us this Saturday to welcome these humble and wonderful folks into Pampa!
