Xcel Energy announces new Chief Human Resources Officer Minneapolis

(January 26, 2022) – Bob Frenzel, Xcel Energy’s Chairman, president and CEO, today announced that Patricia Correa will join the company on Feb. 1, 2022 as the new chief human resources officer (CHRO). Correa will replace Darla Figoli, the company’s current executive vice president and CHRO whose last day is March 1.

In her role with Xcel Energy, Correa will lead the company’s human resources and employee services functions, with responsibility for all aspects of our human resources strategy, including talent management, enterprise learning and technical training, total rewards, and diversity, equity and inclusion. Correa will also be responsible for other important areas that serve our employees and focus on culture including safety and property services. Correa will report directly to Frenzel and is replacing Figoli, who is leaving the company after 25 years of service.

Figoli joined Xcel Energy in 1996, serving in key leadership roles in finance, including vice president and controller for the company’s unregulated natural gas marketing business and the senior director of the company’s commercial accounting group. She joined the human resources organization in 2010 as the vice president, human resources and in 2015, became the senior vice president of human resources and employee services as well as the company’s chief human resources officer.

Correa comes to Xcel Energy from Eaton Corporation where she currently serves as senior vice president, human resources - industrial sector. There she has responsibility for the development and deployment of a holistic people and culture strategy for the industrial portfolio of businesses. She has been with Eaton since 2016 and has broad human resources experience at the company, with a strategic focus on talent, building functional excellence and transforming culture.

Prior to joining Eaton, she held key roles at The Kellogg Company, overseeing talent and organizational development and providing strategic human resources leadership in several business areas. Previously, Correa has held several senior-level positions at PepsiCo – PepsiAmericas, Inc. including head of diversity and inclusion and director of talent.

Correa holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from the University of Illinois at Chicago and has continued to expand her learning through post-graduate courses in strategic leadership, organizational development and human resources management.
