Amarillo teen killed in wreck on Friday morning

An Amarillo teen was killed in a crash four miles south of Amarillo on Friday.

At 11:50 a.m., a 2007 Ford Focus driven by Abigail Walling, 19, Amarillo, was driving north on Bell Street. 

A 2015 Chevrolet 2500 pickup, driven by Jesus Aguero, 23, Amarillo, was driving east on McCormick Road.

The Ford Focus stopped at the stop sign and then pulled into the intersection. The truck then struck the Focus in the driver side door, causing heavy damage. The truck sustained front-end damage. 

After impact, both units came to rest in the northeast side of the intersection barrow ditch.

Walling was pronounced deceased on the scene by Randall County Justice of the Peace, Tracy Byrd. 

Her passenger, Shailyn Hill, 19, Amarillo, was transported to Amarillo’s Northwest Texas Hospital with serious injuries.

Aguero and his passenger, Brandon Reyes, 25, Amarillo, were not injured. 

None of the individuals were wearing their seatbelts.

The crash remains under investigation.  Information may change, be corrected, or added based on the investigators findings.
