Charles Homer “Chuck” Goldsberry

Posted

Charles Homer “Chuck” Goldsberry, 67, of Pampa, peacefully fell asleep to awaken in the arms of Jesus on November 6, 2019 in Pampa. He was born on June 25, 1952 to Walter and Merle Goldsberry in Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Chuck had enlisted in the United States Army on June 28, 1972 and was a very proud Vietnam Veteran. During his tenure, he received a National Defense Service medal as well as a Parachute Badge. He served as an Executive Chef for the 18th Airborne and had retired as a US Army Paratrooper. After his service in the Army, Chuck had worked as a security officer while living in New York as well as an insurance salesman. He eventually moved to Pampa and had retired from the Bateman-Jordan Unit as a Corrections Officer. Chuck often coached Kids, Inc. in Amarillo and felt it to be an important ministry he could participate in.

To say Chuck marched to the beat of his own drum would be an understatement. He was definitely an ornery ol’ cuss, but he had a heart the size of Texas! Antagonizing and poking fun were his terms of endearment and way of showing he cared for you. He was certainly a one-of-a-kind and will be missed.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents.

He has left behind his church family at The Carpenter’s Church as well as very special friends and caretakers, Jim and Sue Sinyard and Steven and Sherry Free.

Sincerest thank you to the staff at Coronado Healthcare for seeing past his temper to take the best possible care of him and to Interim Hospice for making his last hours comfortable.

Celebration of Life Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Fairview Cemetery with Brother Jim Sinyard officiating. The family has entrusted the cremation care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
