The White Deer Volunteer Fire Department will be testing the outdoor alarm system on March 25 at noon.
The sirens will be tested in all parts of the city to make sure they are operating properly. The purpose of the sirens are to alert the public who are outdoors to take cover during severe weather, chemical or other emergencies.
While you may be able to hear the siren inside your house, this is not the primary function of the outdoor warning siren.
For alerts indoors, every home and business should have a weather radio, AM/FM radio or local television receiver.
