Jason Scott Wood, 47, of Amarillo passed away tragically in an auto accident on Friday, October 1, 2021 just north of Dumas.

Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor of Central Baptist Church, and Rev. Thacker Haynes, pastor of McLean United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Jason was born May 21, 1974 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Gary and Judy Kingston Wood. His family moved to Pampa in 1976 and he attended Austin Elementary and eventually graduated from Pampa High School. During his high school years, he was involved in auto mechanics and was a member of the Pampa High School Band. After high school, he attended TSTI/Amarillo College in Amarillo. Jason has worked at Halliburton in Duncan, Oklahoma and Titan in Pampa for several years. He has worked at the Valero McKee Refinery for the past 17 years. He started out a yard man and has worked his way up to lead trainer and subject matter expert in the crude terminal. Over the years, Jason has worked on several special projects with his most recent being the training project manual for Crude Operations that took almost 2 years to complete.

Jason was baptized at First Baptist Church and later moved his membership to Central Baptist Church. He had a love for sporty cars, building and flying radio-controlled airplanes, and his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Jason made a lot of friends, not only through his school years, but at his workplace. He had several nicknames such as Jay, J-Bird, Bird, Woody, and JJ but his favorite was Dad. His 2 boys were his life. He loved them and was very proud of both.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, Geneva and Bill Kingston of McLean and Lillie and M.E. Wood of Shamrock.

Survivors include his parents, Judy and Gary Wood of Pampa; his 2 sons, Logan and Corbin Wood both of Pampa and their mother, Candy Wood of Pampa; brother, Brandon S. Wood of Pflugerville; nephew, Garrett Wood of Stephenville; aunts and uncles, Jim and Minnie Kingston of Amarillo and Billie Kingston of McLean; cousins, Joel & Kim Kingston, Jeff and Amber Kingston, Jimmy and Tashell Kingston, and Misty and Wes English; and special friends, Amy Morton, Ella, Haven and Stan Wardlow of Amarillo.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
