Jerry Lynn Hood

Jerry Lynn Hood, 75, of Pampa, Texas, gracefully gave up his fight with mesothelioma and joined his Lord and Savior while resting at his home on Wednesday, February 9, 2022.  He was born on June 14, 1946, in Elk City, Oklahoma to Sam and Inez Hood.

On January 21, 1952, Jerry’s family moved to Pampa from Elk City, and he graduated from Pampa High School with the class of 1967.  He had been an employee of Pampa ISD in maintenance for over 30 years when he retired.  Finding himself bored and needing something to occupy his time, he went to work for the Texas Department of Public Safety in 2007 doing what he knew best…maintenance.  Jerry was known as a Jack of all trades, as he could work on and fix anything from lawn mowers, motorcycles, boats, cars of any make and model to buses.

Jerry met his soulmate, Phyllis Kreis, and on October 28, 1988, they were joined in marriage to experience life as one.  They enjoyed traveling and had actually made it to every state except Hawaii and Alaska with Jerry taking every opportunity to fish along the way!

Having a love for sports, Jerry truly donned a Harvester heart as he was one of their biggest fans.  He didn’t prefer a particular sport, just so he supported the Harvesters and attended every event possible.  He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and has proudly kept two Cushman Scooters from his childhood.  Jerry was an extremely hard worker, but he was also a jokester at heart that sought out every opportunity to agitate and aggravate others.  He loved a good chuckle, but more importantly, he got a kick out of making others laugh and seeing the glee in their eyes.  Jerry’s kind heart, his willingness to help others and his humor will be missed so terribly by all that knew him.

Should donations be a preference, the family suggests they be made to The Carpenter’s Church, 639 Barnes Street, Pampa, TX 79065, in honor of Jerry.

Celebration of Life Memorial Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2022, at The Carpenter’s Church with Brother Jim Sinyard officiating. The family has entrusted the cremation care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
