Jimmy Roy “Jim” Reddell passed peacefully from this life on July 26, 2021, in Lubbock, Texas. He was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on August 2, 1928 to J.L. and Hattie Reddell. Jim graduated high school from Ponca City, OK in 1946 and attended college at Oklahoma A&M University (OSU), graduating in 1951 with a degree in Physical Education. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country during the Korean War until 1955 when he received an honorable discharge.

Jim started his work career with Skelly Oil Company in refineries in Kansas and New Mexico. He later worked for Diamond Shamrock (Valero), retiring in 1994 as Field Superintendent for the Upper Texas Panhandle.

Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sue, of Lubbock; daughter Beth Reddell Bridges and husband Jimmy, of Lubbock; son Tim Reddell and wife Jill, of Argyle, Texas; brother Tommy Reddell and wife Ruth, of Aurora, Colorado; grandsons Avery Bridges of Lubbock, Camron Reddell and Carson Reddell of Argyle, Texas; granddaughter Caitlyn Johnson and husband Sam, of Northlake, Texas; and great-granddaughter Hadley Johnson. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael Reddell, and sister Mary Nell Wells.

Jim volunteered as a basketball coach in the Optimist program in Pampa, Texas and was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Episcopal Church. Jim and Sue travelled extensively in their RV after his retirement, enjoying campouts with the Texas Panhandle Camping Club. He was known for his dry wit, his ready smile, and positive attitude.

A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at St. Paul’s on the Plains Episcopal Church, 1510 Avenue X, in Lubbock. The Reverend James P. Haney V, assisted by Deacon Becky Tilton Orem, will be the officiants. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Kindred Hospice for their loving care.
