John David (FUJI) Richards, 59, of Pampa, left us on March 25, 2022, to be with his Lord in Heaven.

Services are pending with Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

John was born in Youngstown, Ohio on March 27, 1962. John got to Texas as soon as he could in July of 1978. He was strong willed and full of life. John had a personality that would fill a room. He was witty and charismatic. John was an artist; he drew many beautiful pictures for family which we they   treasure. He loved football and was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. John attended college for a year and decided he wanted to go to work in the oilfield. He worked for 43 years for companies in Pampa and Odessa. He could fix anything you asked him to fix, John said in the oilfield, if the rig broke down you could not go to town, so you had to fix it with what you had. John’s biggest pride was starting his own business in 2017, FUJI Roustabout Service LLC, which is still in operation.

Fuji got the nickname when he went to work in the oilfield, he was so impressed with all the equipment he got out his camera and started taking pictures, thus he got the name, Fuji, the camera he was using. John was a loving and dedicated son, he always made sure his mom and pops were not wanting for anything. John made friends with everyone and would help if they needed anything.

John is survived by his parents, Carl and Judy Port; son, Zed Richards; his sister, Colleen Valingo her significant other, Jody Chase; niece, Jennifer Ross; nephew, Brandon Valingo; great nephew, Camden Ross; aunts and uncles, Mary Lou Goist and Pat and Paul Resch; several nieces and nephews of Youngstown, Ohio and Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; step-brother, Don Port; and step-sister, Diana Statom; and families in California.
