Joyce Velasquez, 69, of Pampa, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021 in Pampa.
Services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Bob Hudson, pastor at Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Joyce was born on May 12, 1952 in Shields to L.V. Byrd and Helen Young. She attended school in Santa Anna. Joyce moved to Pampa in the early 1970’s. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. Joyce married Domingo Velasquez on February 3, 1975 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She worked at the Community Day Care for 35 years. Joyce loved her daycare babies, she bought them all a set of towels when they graduated. She loved butterflies. Joyce loved her grandchildren, she enjoyed spending time with them every chance she got.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sibling; one daughter, Stephanie Velasquez; and one grandson.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Domingo Velasquez of Pampa; two daughters, Amy Velasquez and Latasha Velasquez, both of Pampa; three grandchildren, Isaiah Velasquez, Jaden Velasquez, and Grayson Velasquez; one brother, W.T. Young; a special friend, Evan Merrell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
