Letha Marie Adams

Letha Marie Adams, 72, of Pampa, passed peacefully from this life while surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at her home.  She was born on June 24, 1948 to Orville and Alice Whinery in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.

Although born in Oklahoma, Letha’s family moved to Pampa in the 50’s and this has remained her primary home.  In 1981, she married Jackie Lee Adams and they spent 40 years together building a legacy and a life of memories.  She was deeply passionate about her collections of dolls, chickens and even Avon items (which she gifted many of the family years ago that they still cherish and reminisce over) and she spent countless hours crocheting as well as cross-stitching.  Letha was extremely unique – in every sense of the word.  A rare individual with a firecracker personality, an independence and a determination unparalleled to others!  Each of these traits had a hand in allowing her to be the most passionate and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother to her family to which she was so devoted!

Letha was preceded in death by her father, Orville Whinery; a son, Lyndell Anderson; granddaughter, Alice Taylor and two brothers-in-law, Joe Harvey and Don Owen.

Those she has left behind to remember her drive and persistence are her husband and soulmate, Jackie Lee Adams of Pampa; mother, Alice Whinery of Pampa; mother-in-law, Sarah Clore of Jacksonville, IL; two sons, Orville Ray Anderson of Amarillo, Glenn William Anderson and wife Crystal of Amarillo; two daughters, Tabatha Mathias and husband Nils of Pampa, Sylvia Woolfolk and husband Michael of Franklin, IL; two brothers, Johnny Whinery and wife Pam of Pampa, Orville Whinery, Jr and wife Robin of Pampa; brother-in-law, William Adams of Jacksonville, IL; four sisters, Kathryn Harvey of Clovis, NM, Linda Crocker and husband Dwight of Pampa, Barbara Owen of Amarillo, Mary Couch and husband Alfred of Pampa; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Simmons and husband John of Meredosia, IL, Veva Briggs of Beardstown, IL; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Taylor and wife Mikala of Pampa, Alicia Tayler and husband Calvin of Odessa, Brittany Rhoads of Pampa, Tanner Mathias and wife Makaylia of Pampa, Hope Anderson of Amarillo, Christin Anderson of Amarillo, Caleb Woolfolk of Franklin, IL and one great-grandson, Oliver Tayler.

Celebration of Life Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Brother Jim Sinyard officiating.  Those serving as pallbearers are Jonathan Taylor, Tanner Mathias, Johnny Whinery, Orville Whinery, Jr, Calvin Tayler and Nils Mathias.  The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.

Should donations be a preference, the family suggests they be made in honor of Letha to either the Alice Taylor Scholarship C/O Community Christian School, 1633 N. Banks, Pampa, TX 79065, or the Muscular Dystrophy Association, WEB PO Box 97075, Washington, DC 20090-7075.
