Posted

Our Presbyterian presence in the Ukraine/Romania area, the Rev. Kristen Harris, will be here in person to deliver a sermon and speak about her ministry to NOROC (New Opportunities for Romanian Orphaned Children).  Rev. Harris will be at First Presbyterian Church on May 14, 2023, during the worship service time of 10:45.  The church welcomes all visitors to come and meet Rev. Harris and learn more about the vital work she does even while the area she serves in remains in war-torn turmoil.

Rev. Kristen Harris is Palo Duro Presbytery’s Mission Co-Worker for NOROC (New Opportunities for Romanian Orphaned Children). Kristen spends 6 months out of each year - 3 months at a time - in Tulcea County, Romania working alongside the Romanian staff of NOROC in their service to orphaned, abandoned, abused, and neglected children being raised in state-run group homes and orphanages. When in the US, she travels around the nation sharing NOROC’s story at churches, conferences, and various local and national organizational gatherings. Kristen is a native Texan hailing from Stephenville and Shallowater. She has two degrees from Hardin-Simmons Univ. - B.B.S. Mass Media Communication (09) & Master of Divinity (13). Kristen has been a freelance videographer/photographer, social media administrator for non-profits, teaching pastor, youth minister, college minister, and a Christian education specialist in her career. She was ordained as a Presbyterian Church (USA) Minister of Word and Sacrament on November 20, 2022, by Palo Duro to the work with NOROC. She loves playing basketball and volleyball and singing in a cappella groups.
