National Lineman Appreciation Day

Posted

National Lineman Appreciation Day is observed Tuesday, April 18th, 2023. It has been observed annually on April 18th since 2013. Pampa Linemen for Xcel Energy are: Kevin Davis (Operations Manager), Bob Cook, Jacob Wichert, Steve Marshall, RJ Becco, Theo Harmon, Justin Whaley, Nicholas Howell, Tatum Reagan, Zach Scarlett, Michael Drounette, Jayden Richardson, Logan Martindale, Solomon Cruz, Luis Servin-Galvan and Jayton Couch. Substation and Electricians are Tracy Wright, Rod Keown, Nathan Ferguson, and Caleb Ives.

Being a Lineman is unlike any other job. Depending on the situation, linemen can be called to work at any hour of the day, often hazardous conditions, especially during an outage or inclement weather event. And while people may occasionally see linemen working near their home or office, they often take for granted the steady flow of electricity they enjoy daily without thinking about the work that goes into making it possible. It is Linemen that are out in the field doing the dirty work, ensuring that the energy we rely on every day is steadily delivered with minimal disruption.

“Linemen are on call 24/7, every single day of the year. Though they do get recognized holidays off, if an outage occurs, they go to work. They get called out in the middle of the night, and while at their kids sporting events. I have witnessed Linemen having to be directed to go home after working 16 hours straight during storms, and probably only going off a few hours of sleep. They just keep going without complaining, trying to get the lights back on.” Said Laycee Johnson, Community Service Manager

So, if you see a Lineman today, be encouraged to show your appreciation for their hard work, dedication, and commitment! #thankalineman
