The Pampa Animal Welfare Society will be hosting its annual “Dip and Chip” on June 24th. From 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, the community can bring their pets to the Pampa Animal Shelter at 811 S. Hobart St. to be dipped for fleas and ticks or micro-chipped.

Faustina Curry, the President of PAWS, explained the importance of preventative care for pets.

“Fleas and ticks carry disease. They also make your dog very uncomfortable,” Curry said. “Dipping pets for fleas and ticks should be a monthly thing. This event will help pet owners start the process of regular preventive care.”

As a reminder, if planning on microchipping your dog or cat before dipping them for ticks and fleas, please wait 48 hours for the chip to be completely implanted in the animal.

Additionally, please make sure to bring extra towels if planning to dip your pet at the event as PAWS may run out of clean towels before servicing your pet.

To participate in the PAWS “Dip and Chip”, cats MUST be in a carrier and dogs MUST be on a leash.
