Philip Conner 'Old Man' McCullough

Posted

Philip Conner “Old Man” McCullough, 79, of Pampa passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.  He was born to Bert and Carolyn McCullough in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on March 5, 1940.

He was a true Cowboy at heart.  As a young man, he was an active participant in rodeos.  He rode both bareback and bulls, but preferred bull riding.  During this time, he met Iva Ruth Bearden, the love of his life.  They married December 13, 1958 in Amarillo, TX and were short one month of their 61 first wedding anniversary.  After settling into the farm and ranch life, he was employed by Jake Osborn for several years, later moving from the farm to Pampa, TX where he was employed with Gray County until early retirement.

He later pursed another passion he had and co-founded ABP Transportation with his co-founder, Alton Stokes.  Philip was a 50-year Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge in Roberts County and an avid reader.  And to his credit, he had checked out more books from the Roberts County Library, than anyone else at that time.  Philip was a social person enjoying chatting-it-up at the Coffee Shop.  He will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Philip is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Danny McCullough.

He leaves behind to carry on his legacy, his wife, Iva McCullough of Pampa; a son, Philip “Flip” McCullough of Porter, Tx: two daughters, Sherrie Radloff and husband Tim of Lubbock, Brenda McCullough-Carter and husband David of Pampa; nine grandchildren, Tera Cochran and husband Eric, Tiffany Banks, Amber McCullough, Brody Radloff and wife Jordan, Courtney Miller and husband Kobie, Sarah Radloff, Kyle McCullough and wife Kassie, Trent Carter, Trace Carter and wife Taylor, four great-grandchildren, Zoey Miller, Raylan Cochran, Jaxon Banks and Paisley Banks

The family will be celebrating their loved one with a private graveside service in Red Hill Cemetery in Murchison, Texas.  The have entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
