PHS Weekly Update

Posted

It’s crazy to think that January is already more than halfway over. Even though it was another shortened instruction week, there were still plenty of awesome things happening at PHS. A huge thank you goes out to our very own Pampa Fire Department for taking the time to come and present fire safety to our Health Sciences students on Tuesday. Pampa High School is definitely blessed in the fact so many local organizations take a vested interest in our students (not so at other places I’ve been). We greatly appreciate all of our local partnerships. Tuesday night was a great night in McNeely as both the Hustlin’ Harvesters and the Lady Harvesters basketball teams took down the West Plains Wolves. The atmosphere was excellent and I’m super proud of the P.R.I.D.E. our students compete with. Congratulations to Pampa High School DECA students Ulises Chavez, Jennifer Cook, Pyper Cowan, Ruth Gaite, Avery McCarley, Arlette Rodriguez, and Ximena Solis. All of these students advance to state from their district DECA competition in Lubbock. We’re so proud of this awesome accomplishment! Thursday night our football program held their football banquet to put a cap on their 2022 season.

Banquets are always bitter sweet as we say goodbye to seniors but get to reflect on all the highs of a season (which there were plenty). Friday saw our swim team competed at their district meet in Lubbock and both boys and girls teams finished as district runner ups! Both the boys 200 medley relay and the girls 200 freestyle relay advance on to the Regional Meet next week. The week was capped with our boy and girl wrestlers heading to Vernon and our basketball teams traveling to Randall to take on two top 20 state ranked teams. Our teachers have done a wonderful job of getting students settled back into the spring semester and we are continuing our push to increase rigorous instruction in an effort to push students to excel. We look forward to another week filled with excitement at Pampa High School! It’s a great day to be a Harvester!
